Child of Wonder

Ashen Kaid

He remembered the boy who used to hum to the stars.

That child never asked for applause. He didn’t need a reason to dream or permission to wonder. He simply believed the world could be soft again.

Now grown, he carried the weight of unspoken goodbyes and crowded silences. But on the quietest days—when he wasn’t performing strength—he would feel a flicker. A whisper in his chest, not unlike the old songs.

He would smile, sit still, and write.

Because the boy was still in there, waiting. And the pen was the bridge.

Do it for him, he thought. For the child who still believed in magic.
