Kashmir Lit is an endeavor to support Kashmiri and diaspora writers or those interested to write about Kashmir by:

  • providing a worldplace platform to share their writing
  • creating awareness of Kashmiri writing and cause
  • generating a credible resource on all things Kashmiri
  • garner support from people interested in Kashmir and Kashmiri writing
  • creating opportunities through virtual and real-life workshops, classes and online interactions

Kashmir Lit, the word 'Lit' should not be confused with being short for "Literature" as in popular parlance. It is to be read as a whole word which means "set afire or burning".

DISCLAIMER: Kashmir Lit is published by Kashmir Ink Collective a small group effort for garnering an intellectual response on issues pertaining to Kashmir. It is not affiliated with any political or non-political organization nor does it solicit funding from anyone. It is run by a small staff of volunteers mainly from academia who out of their passion for Kashmir share their time and expertise for free.

.....the ink of the news stains
his knuckles,
the script is wet in his palms: Urdu,
bloody at his fingertips,
is still fine on his lips,
the language polished smooth
